2012 to see car sales plummet, but heavy-truck boom possible - Twine
New vehicle sales in South Africa could end the year at around 495 000 units, said Econometrix director Tony Twine on Thursday. Hyundai’s H1 multicab could double segment, says HASA’s Anderson
Hyundai Automotive South Africa (HASA) has added a multicab, or crewcab minibus – two rows of seats plus a storage area – to its H1 passenger bus and panel van derivatives. HASA marketing director Stanley Anderson says he is confident the H1 multicab will be able to serve as a competent substitute for the doublecab bakkies South Africans are so fond of. The multicab segment of the market is small, he adds, at around 50 units a month, with Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen products the... Full Article
